Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to a brand-new school year at Cornelia International Schools! We are delighted to have you and your children back with us, and we look forward to a term filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. As we begin, we are excited to share some important updates and upcoming events.
📌 New Faces in Our School Community
We are pleased to welcome and introduce new members of our school team:
Ms. Kelechi, our new Developmental Psychologist, who will be supporting children’s growth, well-being, and overall development.
Ms. Ozioma, who has stepped into the role of Academic Supervisor and School Administrator, overseeing academic programmes and helping to strengthen school management.
Ms. Miracle, our new School Administrator, who has been part of our Cornelia family as a teacher and now joins the management team to support school operations and parent services.
Their expertise and dedication will enrich our school community and provide even stronger support for your children.
💻 Relaunch of Our School Website
We are excited to announce that our school website has been relaunched with a fresh, interactive design. The new platform makes it easier for parents to access important information, updates, and resources.
💻 Why We Use ClassDojo
At Cornelia International Schools, we understand that parents want to feel closely connected to their child’s school life and to communicate easily with teachers. That’s why we are introducing ClassDojo this year.
ClassDojo gives parents a simple and secure way to:
Stay informed in real time – Teachers can instantly share classroom updates, photos, and videos so you can see what your child is learning and experiencing each day.
Celebrate achievements – You’ll be able to see when your child earns positive points for behaviour, effort, and accomplishments, helping you to encourage and celebrate with them at home.
Communicate directly – ClassDojo allows parents to message teachers easily, making it simpler to ask questions, clarify concerns, or share feedback without waiting for scheduled meetings.
Be more involved – With regular updates and two-way communication, parents can feel more engaged with classroom activities, school events, and their child’s progress.
We know that stronger school–home communication leads to better outcomes for children, and ClassDojo helps make this partnership seamless. To guide parents on how to use the platform, we will hold a virtual Back-to-School Night via Zoom on the evening of resumption (Monday). The session will run from 4:00pm–5:00pm and will be an interactive 30–60 minute meeting where parents can ask questions and learn how to get started with ClassDojo.
🇳🇬 Nigeria Day Celebration – September 30th
In celebration of Nigeria’s Independence, we will host our Nigeria Day on September 30th. Children are encouraged to wear green outfits to proudly represent our country and participate in themed activities that celebrate Nigeria’s culture and history.
🍎 Teachers’ Appreciation Day – October 6th
On October 6th, we will celebrate Teachers’ Appreciation Day. Children are encouraged (but not required) to bring a small token to appreciate their teachers. This could be a poem, an apple, a handmade note, or anything simple from the heart. While not compulsory, it’s a wonderful opportunity for children to show gratitude to their teachers.
🧦 Odd Socks Day – During Anti-Bullying Week
As part of Anti-Bullying Week, we will join schools across the world in celebrating Odd Socks Day. On this day, children will come to school wearing odd socks as a fun way to celebrate our differences and reinforce the importance of kindness, acceptance, and respect.
🗓️ Term Events and Calendar Highlights
Excursions – Parents will receive the schedule of excursions later in the term, with full details of dates, venues, and classes involved.
Short Mid-Term Break – Please note that this academic year is shorter, so our midterm break will also be brief.
Open Day – As usual, Open Day will follow immediately after the midterm break, giving parents the chance to meet teachers, review their child’s progress, and discuss next steps.
Christmas Event – At the end of this term, we will host our Christmas Celebration. Unlike last year, which was strictly for children, parents are warmly invited to join in the festivities. We look forward to celebrating the joy of Christmas together as one big family.
🕔 After-School Care Now Available
In response to frequent requests from parents, we are pleased to introduce After-School Care for children from 3:00–5:00pm.
This programme includes:
Homework support
Play and supervised activities
General care in a safe and nurturing environment
Cost:
₦2,000 per day if paid in bulk
₦2,500 per day if paid daily
Important Notes for Parents:
Parents must give at least 24-hour notice if their child will be staying for after-school care.
Children should come with a healthy snack to sustain them until pick-up.

We believe this service will give families added flexibility and peace of mind, while providing children with a fun and supportive space after school hours.
🌟 Looking Ahead
This term is filled with opportunities for learning and connection. With new staff, new tools like ClassDojo, an improved website, and exciting events, we are confident that this will be a successful and memorable school year.
